Abstract: It is shown that the interaction of NaI:Tl crystal surface consists of three processes: hydration, quasi equilibrium state and dehydration. Dehydrated surface is a textured polycrystal layer contended crystals of the main NaI phase, formation of the second TlI phase and some amount of NaOH impurity.
